چکیده

A surface coil is any radiofrequency (RF) coil placed directly on the surface of the subject. Surface coils represent some of the simplest coil designs used in magnetic resonance, but are commonly used in experiments requiring the highest possible sensitivity. In contrast to volume coils, which are designed to provide homogeneous sensitivity over the whole field-of-view, surface coils sacrifice field homogeneity to maximize the signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) over a limited region. Figure 5.1 shows an image of a mouse head, acquired with a volume and a surface coil. The volume coil gives a uniform image of the whole head—note that the brain occupies a relatively small

195Pt and 1H NMR has been used to show that addition of chlorine and bromine to [Pt(CN)4]2_ in presence of perchloric acid in water results in cyanide and water scrambling with formation of eleven complexes of the type [Pt(CN)4-nCl(H2O)n+1](n-1)+ (n=0, 1, 2, 3, 4). Addition of NBu4OH ...

Assessment of pharmacological treatment of myocardial infarction by phosphorus-31 NMR with surface coils.

Phosphorus-31 nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) measurements with small surface coils have been used to observe phosphorus metabolism of perfused hearts within localized regions. The method allows for direct, noninvasive, sequential assessment of the altered regional metabolism resulting from myocardial infarction and its response to drug treatment, which cannot be observed by conventional techn...

Assessment of the Characteristics of MRI Coils in Terms of RF Non-Homogeneity Using Routine Spin Echo Sequences

Introduction: One of the major causes of image non-uniformity in MRI is due to the existence of  non-homogeneity in RF receive and transmit. This can be the most effective source of error in  quantitative  studies  in  MRI  imaging.  Part  of  this  non-homogeneity  demonstrates  the  characteristics of RF coil and part of it is due to the interaction of RF field with the material being  imaged...

Recent Advances in Multinuclear NMR Spectroscopy for Chiral Recognition of Organic Compounds.

Nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) is a powerful tool for the elucidation of chemical structure and chiral recognition. In the last decade, the number of probes, media, and experiments to analyze chiral environments has rapidly increased. The evaluation of chiral molecules and systems has become a routine task in almost all NMR laboratories, allowing for the determination of molecular connectivit...

NMR spectroscopy and perfusion of mammalian cells using surface microprobes.

NMR spectra of mammalian cells are taken using surface microprobes that are based on microfabricated planar coils. The surface microprobe resembles a miniaturized Petri dish commonly used in biological research. The diameter of the planar coils is 1 mm. Chinese Hamster Ovaries are immobilized in a uniform layer on the microprobe surface or patterned by an ink-jet printer in the centre of the mi...
